Moisture surveys find trapped water which lays in the roof insulation system.  The results of a survey provide OBJECTIVE information as to the roof systems performance.  The picture on the right is infrared.  It clearly reveals heat trapped in this roof resulting from latent moisture.  From this information it is evident that the roof in question does NOT need replacement and we can easily see the areas that need a new patch.

The drawing on the left is a CAD graph of a nuclear moisture survey.  This method of testing is similar to the infrared discussed above.  The nuclear survey can be used to augment and verify the infrared results.  The graph reads similarly to a Doppler radar map.  Yellow areas are slightly damp, magenta and blue areas contain heavier concentrations of moisture.  Notice how quickly and easily this graph demonstrates areas of concern.
